When I Was Eight
Bundles of lightning
bring on
bolts of thunder.
I remember.
The sounds shook
over an ash horizon,
trapped me
trembling
in damp corners,
as a storm climbed
the husk of sky.
I remember.
A lifetime;
still the scars
and bright memory of gold
remain.

Beautiful work, Carol. I love the ending...the scars and the bright memory of gold... Age and experience explore that young angst. Well done.
Thanks Brenda,
I enjoyed the choice of wordle words this week. And they instantly called out this memory.

Hello Daydreamertoo,
The lovely photo was taken by my sister and brother-in-law on a recent vacation they took to PEI. Thanks for feedback on the images in my poem. I tried to use the words given, in different from their usual ways.
I just read something the other day about Pompeii - and this peace reminds me of that. Nice write.

A wonderfully colorful piece - memories well told.
Thanks Jules. I hadn't thought of Pompeii at all when I was writing but now I can see that in the poem too.
Thank you Tumblewords for your comment. I enjoyed your contribution to Wordle 75 as well.

Wonderfully told Carol - well done.

Thanks Anna. I really enjoyed your poem from the same Wordle prompt. Loved the way you handled the images of falling, flying, floating.
